Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan gave birth to two bonny girls and one baby boy late Sunday night at Mumbai’s Jaslok hospital.

Farah’s husband Shirish Kunder and her brother Sajid Khan were beside her at the time of the delivery. Sajid Khan told Zee News that both Farah and the babies were in the pink of health and doing well.

The ace director’s close friends which include Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala are expected to arrive at the hospital soon.

Earlier last month, producer-director Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan`s wife Gauri Khan had organized a baby shower for Farah with a lavish function held at SRK`s palatial Bandra bungalow `Mannat` in Mumbai. The function was attended by stars like Rani Mukherjee, Priyanka Chopra, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu and wives of Farhan Akhtar, Suneil Shetty, Atul Agnihotri and many others.

Screaming fans and high-pitched media coverage greeted Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, when he arrived here for the screening of his blockbuster film Om Shanti Om or OSO, as locals call it, at the ongoing Berlinale, the Berlin Film Festival.

The huge and almost uncontrollable turnout at the Berlinale of both German and non-German fans Friday night also goes to prove that Germany is shedding its negative perception of what Germans once described, not without contempt, as “exotic films”, the “dance-and-song musicals” produced by “Mumbai’s dream factories”.

Indeed, ever since German television started showing Bollywood films a few years ago, the rise in Bollywood’s popularity in Germany has been quite phenomenal. German-language Bollywood websites have started to appear and hundreds of bloggers routinely discuss in German not only Bollywood films but also the personal lives of their favourite stars.

“Shah Rukh Khan is rated as the biggest Bollywood film star in Germany, even surpassing the Big B (Amitabh Bachhan),” says Ramesh Sinha, an Indian businessman who does outsourcing for Germans and who is himself a Bollywood buff.

“Shah Rukh’s two superhits Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham were well received in Germany, with fans thronging to video shops to lay their hands on audio and video cassettes and DVDs of Shah Rukh’s films,” Sinha said.

Shah Rukh, whose Om Shanti Om is being screened in a section called Berlinale Special, acknowledged that he may be a “big movie star” in India but he definitely was “humbled” by the atmosphere at the Berlinale.

The Bollywood superstar was ostensibly touched by the spontaneous and emotional welcome given to him by the German fans. Film experts and the entire German media, from the sensational Boulevard tabloid Bild to the conservative broadsheet Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, described it as unprecedented that tickets for OSO were sold out in less than seven minutes.

A surprised Shah Rukh quipped, “I thought they (the audiences) must have mistaken the movie title!”

Shahrukh Khan’s six-pack abs in Om Shanti Om made more hype than the film itself but heroine Deepika Padukone had an eye on something else.

The pretty actress said that she went for the filming of the song Dard-e-disco, though she was not a part of it, just to see and feel Shahrukh’s body. She added that she was impressed by his well-toned body but Arjun was her first crush.

She revealed that she admires Arjun’s handsome look and height. She praises the actor to the heavens by saying that she learnt a lot from him, as he too was a model before getting into films.

All eyes were on Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor not long ago. Deepika made her dream debut with Shahrukh Khan through Om Shanti Om. Ranbir too made his film debut with Sonam Kapoor through Saawariya. Coincidentally, these films clashed at the Box Office. They were also rumoured to be seeing each other. However, their relationship seems to have changed with time. Now, they are not in good terms with each other.

It is said that problem started between the ex-lovers during the shooting of Yash Chopra’s untitled film in Sydney. The problem was that Deepika thought Ranbir was avoiding her on purpose in between takes, as he was spending most of the time on his own. This was too much for her, and so, she started back-biting him to the crew of the film. Angry at this attitude, Ranbir told her to stop talking about him and his love life. Sources revealed that they hardly spend time with each other and meet only on professional purpose after the fight.

Latest Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone has been nominated in the best actress category for her scintillating performance in the blockbuster Om Shanti Om at the second Asian Film Awards, organisers announced on Thursday.

Padukone, who grabbed eyeballs with her performance in the Bollywood hit, will vie with Joan Chen of China (The Home Song Stories), Jeon Do-yeon of South Korea (Secret Sunshine), Kirin Kiki (Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad), Kim Yun-jin of Korea (Seven Days) and Tang Wei of Hong Kong (Lust, Caution) for the top award.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 17.

Since its release, the Indian Films-Studio 18 released “Welcome” has only moved from strength to strength.

In the 2007 round-up in the UK, where the film has done the most business in the overseas market, “Welcome” ranks at No.2 after “Om Shanti Om”. “Namaste London”, “Partner” and “Salaam-e-Ishq” feature at No.3, 4 and 5 respectively.

It follows that “Welcome” is also the biggest of the four Akshay Kumar releases of 2007, and by the end of its fifth weekend, it will have created yet another record by emerging as the biggest UK hit ever of Akshay Kumar’s movie career!

“Welcome” has grossed nearly $1.8 million in the UK to date.

Eros Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Bollywood film ‘Om Shanti Om’ to Blu-ray on January 22nd, day-and-date with the DVD release.

The film broke box office records in its India debut, and played to packed crowds during its limited US release. Not all specs and features have been announced at this time, but we do know that video will be 1080p. Stay tuned for more soon.

Taare Zameen Par swept the Nokia 14th Annual Star Screen Awards on Thursday, but Chak De India ran away with the Best Film Award and Chak De boy Shah Rukh Khan bagged the Best Actor Award at the first film award function of the year.

However, it was a tie for the Best Director’s Award between Shimit Amin for Chak de India and Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par.

This year’s event saw some of 2007’s top films like Taare Zameen Par, Chak De India, Life…In a Metro, Om Shanti Om and Guru vying for the top honours.

Taare Jameen Par bagged six key awards including Best Director (Aamir Khan), Best Story (Amol Gupte), Best Child Actor (Darsheel), Best Lyricist (Prasoon Joshi), Best Dialogue and Best Supporting Actor (Aamir Khan).

But Chak De India was adjudged the best film of the year while Mani Ratnam’s Guru earned AR Rahman the Best Music Director Award. The Best Actress Award went to Kareena Kapoor for Jab We Met.

Shah Rukh Khan performed his Dard-e-Disco number from Om Shanti Om while Shahid Kapur, Katrina Kaif, Urmila Matondkar, Riteish Deshmukh and Dia Mirza shook a leg to the year’s chartbusters at the award ceremony, which was hosted by ace compere and Heyy Babyy director Sajid Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan also won the honour of Best Pair along with Deepika Padukone, who also carried a second trophy for the Best Newcomer (Female). The Best Newcomer (Male) Award went to Ranbir Kapoor. Irfan Khan bagged the Best Comedian Award for Life…In a Metro while Anurag Basu won the Best Screenplay Award for the same film.

The Star Screen Lifetime Achievement Award went to Manoj Kumar. Pankaj Kapoor bagged the Award for Best Negative Role for while Chak De girls shared the honour for Best Supporting Role (female).

Singer Soham won the Award for the Best Playback Singer (Male) for his soulful rendition of in the film Life…In a Metro while Priya Ghosal was adjudged Best Playback Singer (female) for Guru.
