When Shah Rukh’s Om Shanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Saawariya were slated to release on Diwali, the latter allegedly met up with the Khan with the intention of sorting out their dates. And much to his relief, Shah Rukh is said to have agreed to prepone his film.

The gesture is touching especially since Bollywood is considered to be the Big Bad World, and it is common knowledge that releasing two big films on the same day only results in one film eating into another’s collections, or both suffering in the bargain.

SRK’s decision only reiterates the belief that stars do stand up in support of each other – be it in their personal or their professional lives.

“Bhansali has had a talk with Shah Rukh, and they’ve mutually agreed not to release their films on the same day, so that the debut film of Ranbir (Rishi Kapoor’s son) and Sonam (Anil Kapoor’s daughter) does not suffer. Shah Rukh has been kind enough to oblige, and is looking at a date prior to Diwali – most probably a week earlier,” reveals our source. Indeed this is a sweet gesture, as Diwali is considered to be a good time to release one’s film considering the festive mood.
